When CINTRAFOR was established by the Washington State Legislature in 1985, the Center’s duties were defined first and foremost as conducting research and analysis and communicating the resulting information:
  1. The development of research and analysis for developing policies and strategies which will expand forest-based international trade, including a major focus on secondary manufacturing;
  2. The development of technology or commercialization support for manufactured products that will meet the evolving needs of international customers;
  3. The development of research and analysis on other factors critical to forest-based trade, including the quality and availability of raw wood resources; and
  4. The coordination, development, and dissemination of market and technical information relevant to international trade in forest products.

For more than 30 years CINTRAFOR has passionately endeavored to meet our responsibility, conducting international marketing, economic, commercialization and policy research to facilitate the expansion of sustainable forest-based international trade and increase the global use of the amazing renewable resource that is wood. Each quarter we feature 3-6 current research projects with a short summary and a link to the full published research (if it has been published).
