Tom Montzka, Manager, Timberland Planning & Development, Boise Cascade, Boise, ID

 

Tom Montzka has worked for Boise (formerly Boise Cascade) for 20 years.  He has held a variety of positions within the company, both in its Louisiana region as well as the corporate headquarters.  Tom currently manages Boise’s Timberland Planning and Development department.  The department coordinates domestic and international strategic planning activities related to the company’s timberlands and its mills’ fiber supply.  These activities address a broad range of topics including timberland acquisition and divestiture, optimization and simulation planning models, silviculture and biotechnology, forest inventory, forest regulatory and stewardship issues, and growth and yield modeling.  In addition, Tom’s department provides financial and accounting management for Boise Timberland Resources’ assets and activities.  Tom is a native Minnesotan, holding a B.S. (Forestry) and an M.S. (Forest Management) from the University of Minnesota.
