John Perez-Garcia earned a BS degree in Forestry from Rutgers University, an MS degree in Agriculture Economics from the University of Puerto Rico and a PhD in Forest Economics from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.  His research at CINTRAFOR includes analyses of linkages between international trade in forest products and the environment utilizing international trade models.  His recent publications include the following topics: the global

impacts of reduced timber supplies from the Pacific Northwest, Canada and Southeast Asia on hardwood and softwood market and international trade; trade barriers in the Pacific Northwest; and Asia’s forest sector outlook.
